Abstract
The main purpose of this research was to develop an online group art therapy program for enhancing the resilience of Chinese students studying in Korea and verify the effectiveness of the program during the COVID-19 pandemic. The online group art therapy program, comprising a total of eight 90-minute sessions, was developed based on a systematic program development model, along with surveys and experts' consultations, to enhance the resilience of Chinese students in Korea. The effectiveness of the developed program was verified by testing the program with an experimental group(N=5) and a control group(N=5), which together included 10 Chinese students attending universities in Korea, from April 28th to June 16th, 2020. The states of each group, before and after the program, were compared and quantitatively analyzed. The Wilcoxon test, a nonparametric statistical method, was used to compare the states of the experimental and control groups before and after the program within each group. The results showed noticeable differences between the experimental and controlled groups in their resilience(p=.009), in which self-control abilities(p=.009), interpersonal skills(p=.008) and positivity(p=.008), were included. Notably these results verified the effectiveness of the online group art therapy program for enhancing the resilience of Chinese students in Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the findings, suggestions and implications for follow-up studies were discussed.
