Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate twitter users' motives conducting a questionnaire survey of university students, to analyze the effects of the drived motives on social capital and users' gratification, and to verify the influences of social capital on the users' gratification in turn. The research model had a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.7 and above, so its reliability was secured. In order to verify its validity, we carried out exploratory factor analysis and found that 9 factors excluding a dependent variable was extracted. We also used correlation analysis to identify relations between variables. Conducting multi-variate regression analysis to test hypothesis, we got the following results. The information seeking motive, the expressing esteem motive, the social interaction motive, the identity representation motive and the vogue motive affected users' gratification. And, on bonding social capital all the motives except the expressing esteem motive showed no effects. In addition, on bridging social capital the information seeking motive, the social interaction motive, the identity representation motive and the vogue motive statistically affected at a significant level. Both bonding social capital and bridging social capital statistically affected on users' gratification at a significant level.
