양성평등주의 윤리학의 도덕교육적 함의 연구

본 연구는 1970년대 후반부터 1980년대 초에 등장한 양성평등주의 윤리학의 기본적 전제와 도덕적 모델들을 기반으로 그 도덕적 가치를 고찰하여 보고, 도덕교육적 의의를 살펴보았다. 첫째, 양성평등주의 윤리학은 ‘성 차이’를 전제로 ‘평등’을 추구하는 윤리학이며, 젠더라는 범주를 활용하여 여성 전체성이 인정되는 새로운 인간관계와 가치질서의 수립을 목표로 삼는다. 보봐르의 ‘동등성’의 모델과 이리가라이의 '차이'의 모델의 내용을 요약하면 한마디로 여성의 참다운 주체실현을 위하여 서로의 이원성이 존중받는 자아와 타자 사이의 새로운 인간관계를 설정하는 것이라 할 수 있다. 둘째, 보봐르와 이리가라이를 통해 드러난 ‘동일성’과 ‘차이’의 모델은 길리간에 의해 배려와 책임의 가치로 구체화되고, 상호관계를 바탕으로 한 타자의 개념으로 보편화 되었다고 볼 수 있다. 길리간은 여성이 남성과 다른 도덕적 표상을 한다는 점을 발견하여 여성의 도덕을 배려의 도덕으로 규정한다. 또한 레비나스의 타자의 개념은 자아와 타자의 상호관계 속에서 주체성을 다룬다는 점에서 양성평등주의 윤리학에 중요한 의의를 지닌다. 타자의 존중은 결국 자기의 전체성에 대한 상호 관계적 이해를 의미하는 것이다. 길리간의 상호 자립적 보완모델이 강조하는 배려와 책임의 윤리는 여성 자신의 이해를 넓히고, 배려와 정의가 상호 조화할 수 있는 길을 열었다는 점에서 높게 평가 받을 수 있다. 셋째, 양성평등주의의 윤리학의 도덕적 가치가 도덕교육에 제공하는 의의는 크게 세 가지다. 정의와 배려의 상호보완을 통해 통합적 인격형성을 기할 수 있으며, 타자의 인정과 상호존중의 가치에 의해 여성과 남성사이에 존재하는 이분법적 분열을 극복할 수 있고, 인간관계에서 감정과 정서의 중요성을 일깨워 줄 수 있다는 것 등이다. 끝으로 성별화된 사회제도를 비판하는 양성평등주의 윤리학은 그 지속적인 성공을 위해 공식적 교육과정에 대한 관심을 제고시켜함을 제안한다.
Abstract
The research is focused on the moral value and educational significance of feminism ethics based on its basic premises and models, which emerged in the late 1970's and the early 1980's. First, feminism ethics is a kind of ethics which seeks out equality under the premise of sexual differences, aiming at a new relationship of admitting the female entity and an established order of values. Also the research intends to critically recognize and overcome the discriminational structures by using the category ‘gender as a method. To sum up Simone De Beauvoir's model of individual ‘equality’ and Irigay's model of socio-cultural ‘difference’, a true realization of female entity is required as an essential ingredient of a new paradigm of human relationship. Here the new human relationship implies the relationship between self and the other within a interrelation. Second, the study shows that the typical feminism ethics introduced by Beauvoir and Irigay was summed up to such values as responsibility and good care by Gilligan, and that such ethics became universalized as a conception of 'the other' based on mutual relationship. Gilligan found out that females have a moral representation different from the opposite sex, which he defined the female's representation as morality of care. Levinas' conception of 'the other' has a significant meaning in terms of feministic ethics in that it deals with feministic equality within the reciprocal 'self-the other' relationship. The respect for 'the other' eventually means mutual understanding of his or her own entity. Despite the different scopes they approached, they have in common the perspective that it is the self-in-relation who becomes the moral subject. Above all, Gilligan's ethics of responsibility and care emphasized by the incorporated model of mutual relationship could be thought highly of, both in that the ethics made females further their understanding of themselves and in that it opened the way to the harmony of justice and care. Third, there are broadly three aspects in which the moral value of feminism ethics offers to moral educations: 1. the complementary relationship of justice and care can lead to forming a general personality; 2. the admittance of 'the other' and the value of mutual respects could override the dichotomized disparity existing between the two sexes; 3. the moral values (such as responsibility, care, and the admittance of and respect for 'the other') could remind us of the importance of feeling and emotion in our human relationships. Finally, we suggest that we should be more concerned about how the feminism ethics criticizing a sexually discriminated society could be applied to the formal curriculum.
