중도시각장애인의 음악하기를 통한 삶의 적응 과정에 관한 생애사 연구

본 연구는 중도시각장애인의 삶을 생애사적 연구방법을 통해 개인적 및 사회 환경적 변인들을 심층적이고 맥락적 으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 중도시각장애인 12명의 삶에 대한 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였으며, 자료분석은 만델바움(Mandelbaum)이 제시한 삶의 영역(dimensions), 삶의 전환점(turnings), 적응(adaptation)의 3개 영역 을 분석틀로 하였다. 연구 결과 삶의 영역은 가족, 직업, 음악그룹이었고, 삶의 전환점은 장애 수용과 극복, 재활교 육을 통한 새로운 삶 개척하기였으며, 적응은 열악한 사회 환경에서 견뎌 내기, 중도시각장애인으로 살아 내기, 음악하기를 통한 삶의 가치 재발견으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 생애사 연구방법으로 중도시각장애인의 삶에 영향을 미친 핵심 요인들을 심층 분석하여 그 역할과 관련성을 밝히고, 동시에 음악하기 경험이 그들의 사회적 소통 및 타인과의 공감을 촉진하는 데에 효과적일 수 있다는 것을 제안하였다는 점에 의의를 갖는다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to explore the lives of people with adventitious visual impairments (AVI) via the life history method. The researcher conducted in-depth interviews with twelve AVIs. The data analysis considered three facets of life history proposed by Mandelbaum: dimensions, turning points, and adaptations. The dimensions of life (families, jobs, and music groups) were analysed first. The turning points of life involve accepting and overcoming the impairment, and pioneering new life through rehabilitation education. Adaptations to life involve persevering in a harsh social environment, living as an AVI, and rediscovering the meaning of a new life through musicing. It is meaningful that this study shows the importance of musicing experience as an effective tool for social communication and empathy with others as well as the role and relationship of main factors influencing on the lives of AVIs through the life history method.
