연구 목적: 본 연구의 목적은 시각장애인 오케스트라 연주자의 삶을 생애사적 연구방법을 통해 심층적이고 맥락적으로 조명함으로써, 이들의 삶에 영향을 끼치는 개인적 및 사회적 변인들을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구 방법: 현재 활동 중인 시각장애인 오케스트라 연주자 9명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였으며, 자료는 만델바움이 제시한 분석 틀, 삶의 영역(dimensions), 삶의 전환점(turnings), 적응전략(adaptation)을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 내용: 삶의 영역은 연주 단체, 가족, 음악대학, 음악동료, 삶의 전환점은 연주 단체 입단, 음악전공 선택, 적응전략은 마음을 열고 적극적으로 소통하기, 음악에 대한 사랑과 긍정의 힘을 바탕으로 미래를 향해 성장하기, 전문 음악인으로서 긍지를 갖고 성실하게 역할 수행하기, 활발한 연주 활동을 통해 직업 음악인으로 자리매김하기로 분석되었다. 결론 및 제언: 본 연구는 시각장애 오케스트라 연주자의 삶을 심층 분석하여, 이들의 삶에 영향을 미친 핵심 요인들의 의미와 관련성을 제시하고, 이들을 위한 제도적, 정책적, 사회적 지원 방향에 대한 기초 자료를 제공한다는 데에 의의를 갖는다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate personal and social variables influencing on the life of orchestral players with visual impairments through in-depth and contextually exploring their lives by life history method. For this, interviews were conducted on 9 professional orchestral players with visual impairments, and data were analyzed using the framework of dimensions, turnings and adaptation of life proposed by Mandelbaum. As a result, dimensions of life were performing group, family, music college, and music colleagues, turnings of life were enrolment in performing group and choice of music major, and adaptation of life was open-minded and active communication, growth towards the future with love of music and power of positivity, earnest performance of musical role with the pride as a professional musician, and realization of musical career as a job through active orchestral performances. It is meaningful that this study showed meaning and relationship of core factors exerting on the life of orchestral players with visual impairments, and provided basic data for further direction of systemic, political and social support for them by in-depth analyzing their lives.
