Abstract
This study analyzes how two prominent contemporary crises—economic crisis and climate crisis—are conceptualized in media discourse. It examines how the perception of these crises differs through the linguistic expressions that co-occur with them within sentences. The analysis reveals that the economic crisis is predominantly conceptualized as an immediate issue faced by individuals or homogenous groups, with a strong emphasis on present urgency. In contrast, the climate crisis is framed as a shared global problem that demands future-oriented solutions. These differing conceptualizations are clearly reflected in the language used in media reports. The economic crisis tends to be associated with concrete and practical expressions, whereas the climate crisis is often accompanied by abstract and inclusive language. This study aims to uncover these linguistic differences through an analysis of co-occurring expressions at the sentence level. Through this approach, it becomes possible to understand how the media perceives and conveys each crisis from a linguistic perspective.
