번역투(飜譯套)의 남용과 글쓰기 교육 – 전치사 ‘about’의 한국어 전이 양상을 중심으로

Abstract

This paper attempted to raise the question of the reality of abuse of translationese, which are overlooked in university writing education. At this point, abuse of translation is spreading as a daily problem as well as academic writing. With the growth of the video generation, communication is becoming more and more important than anything else. Translationese are created when translating. At this time, the most problematic case of translation is when English is translated into Korean rather than when Chinese or Japanese are translated. In particular, the most problematic is when translationese has become the language of everyday life. Among them, it is necessary to look at the unnaturalness of Korean language that occurs when translating prepositions. Above all, the element that hinders natural communication is the preposition ‘about’. The ambiguity that occurs when translating this into Korean makes writing easier. However, on the other hand, it is also the main culprit that makes communication difficult. In Korean, ‘about’ is usually translated as ‘~에 대하여(대한)’. Such translation simplifies the depth of thinking by interfering with not only academic writing but also daily life of language. The reason this phenomenon occurs is because it is convenient. Above all, ‘~에 대하여(about)’ has settled as an abstract Korean expression beyond a simple translation. For example, it is not clear what kind of person you are referring to or what aspect of person you are referring to in a description like ‘a text about a person.’ There is a convenience to avoid having to think deeply. First of all, it is not possible to know what specific content is being described. In addition, in such a situation, the depth of the thinking is blocked by simplifying the object to be written. This is an area that should not be overlooked in the field of teaching writing. This should be corrected by the time you enter college and begin academic writing. Thus, this problem cannot be socially expanded or reproduced. This is why it is necessary to avoid such a tendency to write and develop a teaching method that can add depth of thought.
