기독교 관점에서 본 서경(書經)의 종교성 고찰

본 논문은 기독교 관점에서 『서경』(書經)에 나타나는 종교성을 고찰함으로써 유교사상과 기독교사상의 상호 이해를 높이고 서로 대화와 소통의 가능성을 살피는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는, 기독교의 경전인 『구약성서』와 유교의 경전인 『서경』에 담겨 있는내용의 역사적 시기가 비슷하다는 점과 오래전 고대인들의 종교적 내용이 담겨 있다는점 그리고 한국과 세계에서 주요 종교로 자리 잡고 있는 기독교의 관점으로 보았을때, 과연 기독교와 유사한 종교성이 고대 중국에서도 나타나는지에 주목하였다. 기독교관점에서 『서경』에 나타나는 종교성을 고찰함에 있어서 기독교를 대표하는 카테고리(category)를 통해 살펴본다. 구약성서 학자인 월터 브루그만(Walter Brueggemann)은 히브리인들이 그들의 종교에 대해서 말할 때 표현하는 대표적인 주요 동사에 따른 다섯 가지의 카테고리가 있다고 말한다. 이 다섯 가지는 “야웨가 창조하신다, 야웨가 계시하신다, 야웨가 약속하신다, 야웨가 구원하신다, 야웨가 명령하신다”이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 다섯 가지 동사형으로 표현되는 기독교의 대표적 카테고리와 “야웨의 주재적 인격성”을 추가하여『서경』에 나타나는 종교성을 고찰한다. 이러한 카테고리에서 주어인 “야웨” 대신에 들어갈 수 있는 종교적 대상과 다섯 가지 카테고리에 대응할 수 있는 특징이 『서경』에도나타나는지 고찰하고 이를 통해 기독교와의 유사점과 차이점을 살펴본다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to enhance the mutual understanding between Confucian and Christian thought and examine the potential of interactivity and communication by considering religiosity appearing in the Shujing (Book of documents) from the perspective of Christianity. This study focuses on the fact that historical periods of contents in both Scriptures are similar and they include religious materials of old ancients, and whether the religiosity similar to Hebrew religion was shown in ancient China, from the perspective of Christianity, one of main religions over the world including Korea. The religiosity appearing in the Shujing is considered from the perspective of Christianity, through the main representative category of the Christianity. Walter Brueggemann, a scholar of Old Testament says that there are five categories of representative verbs expressed by Hebrews when they talked about their religion: 'Yahweh creates,' 'Yahweh reveals,' 'Yahweh promises,' 'Yahweh saves' and 'Yahweh commends.' The religiosity in Shujing is considered by investigating the representative categories of Christianity expressed by such five verb forms and 'omnipotent personality of Yahweh.' Thus, similarities and differences between two religions are examined by considering whether a religious icon who can replace 'Yahweh,' the subject in such categories, and characteristics corresponding to five categories also appear in the Shujing.
