한국 벤처기업 경영요소 중요도의 조직성장단계별 변화에 관한 탐색적 연구

초록

창업초기에 기업이 갖추고 있는 경영자원들이 기업이 성장함에 따라 더 이상 효과적이거나 적합하지 않을 수도 있고, 성과창출에 기여하지 못했던 요인들이 중요한 공헌요인으로 전환될 수도 있는 등 동일한 기업내에서도 성장과정에서 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인의 내용이나 그 중요성의 정도가 달라질 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 기존의 연구들은 횡단적 연구방법에 입각해 어느 특정 시점에서 조직성과에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 탐색해 성공요인 또는 실패요인으로 제시하는 경우가 대부분을 차지한다. 반면, 벤처기업이 성장해 감에 따라서 그 성공요인이나 중요한 성과결정요인이 어떻게 변화되어 가는가에 대한 연구는 크게 부족하다. 횡단적 연구접근법에 의한 연구결과는 벤처성과의 결정요인을 규명하는데 기여하고 있지만, 시간의 흐름이나 벤처기업의 성장과정에 따라서 중요한 성과결정요인이 어떻게 달라질 것인가에 대한 정보를 제공하는 데는 한계를 지닌다.본 연구는 동태적 관점에 입각해 벤처기업 경영자에 의해 중요시되는 경영요소들이 벤처기업 조직성장단계별로 어떻게 변화되어가는지를 탐색적으로 연구하였다. 벤처기업의 조직성장단계를 벤처기업의 현실을 감안해 3단계로 구분하고 벤처경영시스템 모델을 설정하여 각 단계별로 경영하위시스템요소의 중요도를 탐색하였으며, 각 요소들의 중요도가 전체 성장주기상에서 어떤 변화추이를 보이는가를 살펴보았다. 연구결과 개발 및 사업화단계에서는 중요시되는 하위경영시스템 요소들이 양극화 되었다가 성숙안정화단계에 가서는 대부분의 차이를 발견할 수 있었다.

Abstract

This study investigated on the change of importance with managerial factors of Korean business ventures by organizational stage. The results suggest that the importance of managerial factors change as organizational stage evolves. We can find that technological factors, human resources, entrepreneurs and financial factors have high importance in the early stage of ventures. And importance of strategy, sales, organizational environment, organizational processes grows with growth stage and mature stages. This study also investigated the differences of importance of managerial factors between high performance and low performance ventures. We can suggest that strategy could be critical at especially mature stage to contribute organizational performance. Also we investigated the difference of importance by IT and non-IT industry.
