Abstract
This study examines the impact of the Korean War on the militarization of NATO with the purpose of examining the impact of the Korean War on the international system. International wars have a certain influence on the international system. The factor that plays the most important role in the transformation of the international system would be war, and in many cases, changes in the international structure or transformation or severance of the international system are accomplished through war. The Korean War, as an international war, played a role in amplifying the Cold War. Looking at the outbreak of the Korean War, the armistice, and the development of world history after that, we can find that the logic of the Cold War is already inherent in the Korean War. Although the Korean War was not the origin of the Cold War, it had a very significant impact on the amplification and deepening of the Cold War. The Soviet development of nuclear weapons led to a reassessment of Soviet military power, but did not directly promote NATO's militarization. The cause of NATO's immediate militarization was the Korean War. The Korean War made Western European leaders realize the fear that the Soviet Union could invade Western Europe at any time and that the possibility that the Soviet Union could use nuclear weapons strategically could not be ruled out. The Korean War was recognized as the clearest evidence that the threat of the Soviet Union could be revealed as a reality, and NATO's militarization had to be realized as a reality, not as a mere rhetoric.
