이 연구는 청소년의 민주적 의사소통 및 의사결정 능력을 진단하기 위한 수행과제와 채점기준을 개발하고 타당화하기 위하여 수행되었다. 청소년의 민주적 의사소통능력은 ‘민주적 원리에 대한 이해와 지지를 바탕으로, 문제해결을 위한 소통에 적절하게 참여하거나 소통을 관리하는 능력’으로 정의하였다. 총 550명의 중학생이 개발된 시나리오기반 수행형 과제에 참여하였으며, 14명의 채점자가 학생들의 수행을 평정하였다. 산출된 자료를 다국면 Rasch모형을 적용하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시나리오기반 수행형 과제에서 중학생 수행 채점 결과는 일차원성 가정을 부분적으로 만족하였으며, 다국면 Rasch모형에 적합하였다. 둘째, 난이도가 가장 낮은 항목은 ‘소통 참여’ 영역 중 ‘친구들의 의견을 듣는다’였던 반면, 난이도가 가장 높은 항목은 ‘소통 관리’ 영역의 ‘의견에 대한 이유와 근거를 이야기한다’와 ‘제시된 의견들의 타당성을 검토한다’였다. 셋째, 수행과제에서의 점수와 자기보고식 준거변인과의 상관은 .1-.3 내외로 약한 정적 상관을 보였다. 시나리오기반 수행형 과제를 활용한 민주적 의사소통 능력 진단의 유용성과 향후 연구 과제가 논의되었다.
Abstract
This study aims to develop and validate a performance task and scoring criteria for assessing youth's democratic communication and decision-making skills. Adolescents' democratic communication skills were defined as the ability to appropriately engage in or manage communication for problem-solving, based on an understanding of and support for democratic principles. A total of 550 middle school students completed the scenario-based performance task, and 14 raters participated in scoring. The data were fitted to a many-facet Rasch model, and the main findings are as follows. First, the scoring data fitted the many-facet Rasch model. Second, the lowest difficulty item was ‘listen to friends' opinions’ in the ‘communication participation’ domain. The highest difficulty items were ‘discuss reasons and evidence for opinions’ and ‘review the validity of different opinions’ in the ‘communication management domain. Third, the correlations between scores on the performance tasks and the self-reported criterion variables were weak and positive, ranging from .1-.3. The usefulness of scenario-based performance tasks to diagnose students’ democratic communication skills and future research issues were discussed.
