초록

Bae, Hee-Sook. 2017. A Narrative Analysis of Little Red Riding Hood of Charles Perrault Focusing on Story Grammar and Lexical Distribution. Korean Journal of Linguistics. 42-4, 717-734. For language education on discourse level, the narrative resources extracted and generated from various stories are important. This study aims to analyze the narrative structure and lexical distribution of Little Red Riding Hood of Charles Perrault for French language education on discourse level. We firstly analyzed story grammar structure of this fairy tale. Six elements such as <setting>, <initiating event>, <reaction>, <internal reaction>, <attempt>, and <result> are used after application of eight elements of Stein & Glenn(1979). We secondly analyzed lexical distribution according to frequency considering token and types after the lemmatization. Through this study, we found that the text length of the two protagonists (Little Red Riding Hood and Wolf) was almost the same. However, their roles in narrative structure was opposed; Wolf played a role of <attempt> and <result>, while Little Red Riding Hood and her grand-mother played the roles of <reaction> to <attempt> by Wolf. Her mother played a role of <initiating event> in story consisted of five small episode. For lexical distribution, the most frequent words were on one hand related to the description of characters (rouge(red), petit(little), mère-grand(grandmother), etc) and on the other hand reflect frame of the story (dire(say) and aller(go)), while the most frequent words of each role show their characters. These findings can be used for relationship map of characters and lexical education in context for French language education using a tale Little Red Riding Hood of Perrault. Furthermore, these resources can be applied to development of computer based discourse education system. (Woosong University)
