Abstract

This paper analysis the strategies of the interpreters on the basis of Chinese Korean and Korean Chinese consecutive interpretation corpus. As the result, the interpreters use a lot of ‘equivalence’ strategies on the process of the consecutive interpretation. But the ‘equivalence’ doesn’t mean the word to the word, and the sentence to the sentence from the source text to the target text. It means ‘equivalent’ to the core meaning of the source text. In order to send the core meaning of the source text, the interpreters add the necessary information, reduct the repeated and unnessary information, and correct the inaccurate information. Through this method, the interpreters can send the correct meaning what the speaker wants to express, to help the listeners understand, and to promote the communication between the speaker and the listeners. From this point of view, ‘addition’, ‘reduction’ and ‘correction’ ‘equivalent’ to the core meaning of the source text. It’s very important to make the interpretation smoothly. In one word, on the process of the consecutive interpretation, the interpreters use the ‘equivalence’, ‘addition’, ‘reduction’ and ‘correction’ strategies to achieve the communication between the speaker and the listeners.
