드뷔시의 「현악4중주 사단조」 1악장과 라벨의 「현악4중주 바장조」 1악장에 나타난 인상주의 음악에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine various impressionism music through the first movement of String Quartet by Debussy and Ravel, the representative composers of impressionist music, and to understand the unique personality of the two composers. The 19th century Impressionism and Impressionism music are studied as a literature research method. And the chronology and musical characteristics of Debussy and Ravel are also explained. The analysis of String Quartet by Debussy and Ravel progressed in perspective of form, structure, harmony, scale and mode, and rhythm. The results are as follows. First, both works had something in common in the form of Sonata-Allegro. Second, it has weakened funtion of harmony, parallel chord progression, additive chord, pedal point, chromatic progression, and pholytonality. Third, church modes, six-note scales, five-note scales, and four-note scales were mainly used. Fourth, syncopation caused a change in accent movement. In this study, the research was limited to the first movement, and in-depth analysis of the remaining movements of the second, third, and fourth movements remains as a future task.
