바울이 고린도전서 12-14장에서 소개하는 예언의 은사란 무엇인가? 이것은구원의 도리를 드러내는 계시인가? 아니면 일종의 영감받은 설교인가? 아니면 앞 일을 점치는 것인가? 아니면 성령의 현시로 나타나는 가벼운 권면이나 책망인가? 위 질문들을 한 질문으로 줄인다면 이것이 될 것이다: 예언의은사의 본질은 무엇인가? 본 연구도 이 질문을 새로이 하는 것이다. 논자가주장하려고 하는 것은 바울이 제시한 예언의 은사는 설교도 구원의 도리에관한 계시도 점치는 것도 아니라 성령의 갑작스런 현시로 교회 공동체에 주어지는 위로와 책망의 말이라는 것이다. 이것은 절대적인 권위로 말하는 구약성서에 나오는 예언과는 그 강도에 있어서 훨씬 낮은 형태의 것이다. 그렇다면 바울은 왜 이러한 의미의 예언을 말하는 것일까? 바울이 말하는 은사로서의 예언은 “공동체를”을 “통해”와 “세우기” 사이로 옮기기 혹은 책망을통해 세우기 위한 것이기 때문이다. 이것은 구약성서에 나오는 것처럼 하나님의 절대적인 뜻을 전달하는 것이 아닌 것이다.

Abstract

What is the gift of prophecy which Paul had in mind in 1 Corinthians 12-14? Is it a revelation for the way of salvation? Or is it a kind of inspired sermon? Or is it a prediction which is to happen in the future?Or is it an encouragement or reprove from the showing of the Spirit?These questions can be reduced into one: what is the essence of the gift of prophecy?This study revisits the above question. It will be shown that it is neither an inspired sermon nor a revelation for the salvation of the world. It will be argued that it is an encouragement or reprove given through the showing of the Spirit. Paul did not argue that the words of the prophecy had the absolute authority to the degree of those in the Old Testament. How did this kind of prophecy of non-absolute authority happen?This study will suggest that differently from the Sitz im Leben in the Old Testament prophecy, that of the gift of prophecy in 1 Corinthians 12-14 is gathering of the community for building up the local church.
