살인범죄자 프로파일링을 위한 범죄자 특성 예측요인에 대한 연구

본 연구에서는 살인범죄자 프로파일링을 위해 살인사건 현장에서 면식 여부, 전과 및 공범 유무와 같은 범죄자의 특성을 예측할 수 있는 범죄현장요인에 대해 검토하였다. 이를 위해서 2007년부터 2019년 사이 한국에서 발생한 살인사건 중 경찰청 과학적 범죄분석시스템(SCAS)에 입력된 사건 315건에 대해 로지스틱 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 비면식에 의한 범행일 경우 면식에 의한 범행에 비해 급습의 형태로 범행이 자행되며 현금 및 귀금속을 절취하는 경우가 2∼3배가량 높은 것으로 나타났다. 전과가 있는 범죄자의 경우 피해자가 주로 여성이며 현금 및 귀금속을 절취하고 범행 후 범행도구를 가져가는 행위가 2∼4배가량 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 공범에 의한 범행일 경우 두 개 이상의 범행도구를 사용하고 현금 및 귀금속을 절취하는 경우가 6∼7배가량 높게 나타났으며, 현장을 위장하거나 시체를 현장 밖으로 이동 유기하는 현장특성은 공범에 의한 범행에서 3배 이상 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 더욱이 범죄자 특성에 대한 로지스틱 분석 모델의 적합성을 검증하기 위해 ROC 분석을 실시한 결과 ROC 곡선 아래의 면적(AUC)이 .78에서 .87로 예측 정확성이 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 살인사건 발생시 범죄현장에 남겨진 범인의 행동요인을 통해 범죄자의 특성을 파악하여 보다 객관적이고 과학적인 사건판단을 가능하게 하며 나아가 수사방향 제시 및 인력의 효율적 배치로 신속한 사건해결에 유용하게 활용될 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
In this study, we examine crime scene factors that can predict offender characteristics of stranger offenders, criminal records, and multiple offenders. This study analyzed data on 315 South Korean homicide cases in the National Police Agency's Scientific Crime Analysis System from 2007 to 2019. As a result, homicide cases in which money or jewelry were stolen and where the offender carried out a surprise attack were 2–3 times more likely to be committed by stranger offenders. Moreover, homicide cases in which victims were women or where money or jewelry were stolen and the offender took weapon after crime were 2–4 times more likely to be committed by offenders who had a criminal record. Homicides involving multiple offenders were 6–7 times more likely to involve multiple weapons and stealing money or jewelry. Crime scene variables of disguising the crime scene and body transportation were also 3 times more likely to be committed by multiple offenders. This study evaluated the validity of three predictive models with receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. The results indicated that the area under the ROC curve ranged from .78 to .87, suggesting moderate and sufficient accuracy. These results allow more objective and scientific judgment of the case by identifying the offender's characteristics through crime scene factors in the event of a homicide. It is believed that this will be useful in solving cases quickly by setting scope of the investigation and efficient deployment of police personnel.
