산림치유 프로그램을 활용한 청각장애인의 자아존중감 증진

본 연구는 청각장애인의 자아존중감 향상을 위해 설계된 산림치유 프로그램을 청각장애인에게 실제로 적용했을 때, 프로그램 전·후 청각장애인의 자아존중감에 변화가 있는지 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서 사용된 산림치유 프로그램은 20세 이상 청각장애인 100명을 대상으로 요구도와 선호도를 조사하여 개발하였다. 연구 참여자는 청각장애인 중 20세 이상 성인으로, 산림 활동에 무리가 없는 자를 자발적으로 모집하여 선발하였다. 산림치유 프로그램을 적용한 실험군은 총 2개 그룹으로, 충북 청주시 소재 C대학교 내 학술림에서 14명, 서울시 성동구 서울숲에서 9명으로 총 23명이 참여하였다. 실험군에게는 2024년 5월부터 6월까지 주 1회, 회기당 90분씩 총 5회기의 산림치유 프로그램에 직접 참여하도록 하고, 대조군 10명은 실험군의 프로그램이 실행되는 기간 동안 단순 숲 산책을 주 1회, 회기당 90분 내외로 총 5회 실시하도록 하였다. 실험군과 대조군의 심리적 효과 측정을 위해 프로그램 사전-사후에 Rosenberg(1965)의 자아존중감 척도(Self Esteem Scale)를 사용하여 자기기입식 온라인 설문으로 진행하였다. 그 결과 실험군과 대조군 간 사전-사후 자아존중감에 유의한 차이(t=3.272, p=0.003)가 나타났으며, 긍정적 자아존중감과 부정적 자아존중감으로 구분하여 비교하였을 때, 부정적 자아존중감에서 집단 내 유의미한 차이(t=2.979, p=0.015)가 있었다. 따라서, 청각장애인의 자아존중감 증진을 위한 산림치유 프로그램은 청각장애인의 자아존중감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되며, 대상과 목적에 맞는 산림치유 프로그램 개발의 중요성을 확인하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is a change in the self-esteem of hearing-impaired individuals before and after participating in a forest healing program specifically designed to enhance their self-esteem. The forest healing program used in this study was developed based on a survey of needs and preferences conducted with 100 hearing-impaired individuals aged 20 and above. Participants in the study were recruited from among adults aged 20 and over who are hearing-impaired and capable of participating in forest activities without difficulty. The experimental group, which participated in the forest healing program, was divided into two groups: 14 participants at the academic forest within C University in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, and 9 participants at Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, making a total of 23 participants. The experimental group was involved in a total of five sessions of the forest healing program, held once a week for 90 minutes per session from May to June 2024. Meanwhile, a control group of 10 participants engaged in simple forest walks once a week for a total of five sessions, each lasting around 90 minutes, during the same period. To measure the psychological effects on the experimental and control groups, a pre- and post-program assessment was conducted using Rosenberg's (1965) Self-Esteem Scale through a self-administered online survey. The results revealed a significant difference in pre- and post-program self-esteem between the experimental and control groups (t=3.272, p=0.003). When comparing positive and negative self-esteem, a significant difference was observed within the group in terms of negative self-esteem (t=2.979, p=0.015). Therefore, it was concluded that the forest healing program aimed at enhancing the self-esteem of hearing-impaired individuals has a positive impact on their self-esteem, underscoring the importance of developing forest healing programs tailored to specific subjects and objectives.
