Abstract

This study examines the impact of perceived restorative environment on happiness among marine leisure sports tourists and verifies the mediating effect of place attachment. A survey was conducted with 277 tourists who had visited marine leisure sports destinations. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS macro model 4. The results showed that tactile (β= .469) and olfactory (β= .187) restorative experiences significantly influenced happiness. For place attachment, tactile (β= .430), olfactory (β= .218), and visual (β= .127) restorative experiences affected place identity, while visual restorative experience (β= .406) influenced place dependence. Both place identity (β= .436) and place dependence (β= .322) positively affected happiness. Place attachment partially mediated the relationship between all dimensions of perceived restorative environment and happiness. This study contributes to understanding the unique restorative characteristics of marine environments as blue spaces from a multisensory perspective. It suggests developing programs that maximize visitors' sensory experiences and establishing sustainable tourism strategies through place attachment formation. The findings provide insights into how marine leisure sports tourism can enhance well-being in the post-COVID era.
