Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between the experiential value of scuba diving participants and environmentally responsible behavior, a crucial aspect of sustainable tourism. We further aimed to provide theoretical insights into how experiential value translates into environmentally responsible behavior by establishing place attachment as a psychological mediating mechanism. For empirical analysis, self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 217 visitors who had engaged in domestic marine recreation tourism within the past twelve months. The findings revealed several significant results: First, experiential value positively influenced pro-environmental behavioral intentions. Second, experiential value positively affected place attachment. Third, place attachment positively impacted pro-environmental behavioral intentions. Fourth, place attachment mediated the relationship between experiential value and pro-environmental behavioral intentions. These empirical findings offer both theoretical and practical implications for sustainable tourism research.
