본 논문의 일차 목적은 현재 한국의 학계와 언론에서 다양한 의미로 해석되어 쓰이고 있는 생활정치의 개념을 서구의 현대 정치 사상사를 통해 정립하는데에 있다. 이 글의 전반부는 이론부분으로 서구에서 최초로 생활정치 개념을 이론화시킨 기든스의 연구를 중심으로 생활정치에 대한 정의, 생활정치의 등장배경, 성찰적 근대화와 생활정치의 관계, 생활정치에서 지구화가 갖는 의미, 생활정치와 해방정치의 차이 등을 추적해 본다. 기든스 이론에 대한 이해를 돕기위해 벡의 제2근대와 하부정치 등의 개념들을 소개하고 두 사람의 근대화 이론 및 생활정치 개념이 하버마스의 '생활세계'에 기반하고 있음을 밝힌다. 생활정치는 기든스의 표현대로 생활 스타일로서는 유의미하지만 정치라 불리기에는 부족한 점이 있다. 후반부에서는 생활정치가 새로운 정치형태로 자리잡기 위해 필요한 요소가 무엇인지 고민하고 생활정치 발현의 구체적인 사례로 독일정부의 시민 참여 활성화 방안을 소개한다.
Abstract
The primary purpose of this paper is to interpret the definition of life politics which are used in Korea very confusingly. The first half of this article, in order to understand the right concept of life politics, introduces the concept of life politics which Giddens used first in Western Europe and other related concepts such as reflective modernization, globalization, emancipatory politics, subpolitics so on. Afterwards the relationship between life politics and Habermas’ concept of lifeworld will be turned out. In the second half of this paper will be asked which conceptual element the life politics lack. The Answer is the forming of solidarity through a development of civil society and civic engagement which one can recognize in the German politics for the civil society.
