World-sorrow and Transition to Children’s Literature ― A Preliminary Study on a New Interpretation of Go Han-Seung’s Creative Fairy Tales

본고는 ‘高漢承(1902~1949)의 창작동화는 설화의 殘存인가 아니면 번역동화의 模 寫인가’ 식의 종전의 이분법적 독법을 돌파하기 위한 예비적 고찰로 작자가 文靑에서 동화 작가로 성장한 문학적 도정을 조명한 글이다. 이러한 목적의식 아래 성립된 본고 의 방법론과 서술의 절차는 다음과 같이 집약된다. 먼저 Ⅱ장과 Ⅲ장에서는 정밀한 문헌 조사에 기인하여 고한승의 초기 활동을 거슬러 살폈다. Ⅳ장에서는 앞 장에서 발굴한 새로운 해석의 실마리 ‘世界苦’, ‘독일 낭만주의 문학’, ‘기독교’를 연구의 단초 로 삼아 고한승의 첫 창작동화 「옥희와 금붕어」를 새롭게 독해하였다. 끝으로 Ⅴ장에 서는 지금까지의 논의를 간략하게 정리하였다.
Abstract
This paper examines in detail the literary process in which Go Han-Seung’s (1902-1949) grew from a literary youth to a fairy tale writer to break through the traditional dichotomous reading of whether Go’s creative children’s stories are remnants of folklore or mere imitations of translated fairy tales. The methodology and narrative process established for this purpose are summarized as follows. First, in Chapters II through III, a detailed literary investigation traced Go Han-Seung’s earlier activity. Using the missing link elements uncovered in the previous chapters, such as world-sorrow, German Romantic literature, and Christianity, Chapter IV reinterprets Ok-Hee and Goldfish. Finally, Chapter V presents a summary of the discussion.
