Abstract

Uzbekistan, which celebrated its 30th anniversary of independence, has also established diplomatic relations with Korea for over 30 years, and the two countries have achieved significant development in their relationship through continuous cooperation and exchanges over the past 30 years since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992. The relationship between the two countries has developed friendly cooperation in various fields based on mutually beneficial cooperation and trust. In Uzbekistan, Korea's international development cooperation began when diplomatic relations were established with Korea. Korea's international development cooperation can be seen as progressing and developing in two aspects: government-led ODA cooperation and cooperation through the activities of civil society-centered private development NGOs. Uzbekistan's development cooperation was first initiated by civil society-centered private organizations immediately after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, before KOICA officially began its activities. This study was based on an investigation into actual cases of international development cooperation by civil society-centered private development NGOs in Uzbekistan that have been in progress since 1990. The goal was to analyze the influence and changes that the activities of overseas development private NGOs led by Korean civil society have brought to Uzbekistan, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary of independence, and to forecast the direction that private development NGOs should take in the next 30 years. Rather than the general level of previous studies on NGO activities in Central Asia, we introduced and evaluated actual cases at the level of specific theories.
