『자본론』의 방법: 변증법과 과학으로서의 정치경제학

이 글은 『자본론』의 방법을 구명하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 『자본론』의 방법은 변증법이라는 한 가지 측면에 한정할 수 없다. 『자본론』의 방법적 탁월성은 ‘과학으로서의 정치경제학’을 산출하려 했던 마르크스의 저술의도와 연관된다. 한마디로, 과학적 정치경제학 이론을 산출하려는 『자본론』의 목표가 그것의 방법론을 규정하는것이지 방법론이 『자본론』의 내용을 규정하는 것은 아니다. 이러한 의도에 걸맞게마르크스는 변증법뿐만 아니라, 사유와 분석을 통해 대상의 핵심 요소를 개념화하는 데 이용한 결정추상, 정치경제학 연구편제의 핵심으로 자본과 노동과 같은 범주를 결정하는 데 사용한 과학적 실재론, 정치경제학 연구를 ‘사적 소유제’ 같은 자본주의 경제체제의 핵심적 상부구조에 대한 비판과 연결 짓는 비판적 실재론을 각각의 대상에 따라 방법론적으로 적절히 배치했다. 요컨대, 정치경제학이 하나의 과학적 연구인 한에서 『자본론』은 당대 최신의 그리고 최고의 연구방법론을 선보였다.
Abstract
This paper examines the method of Karl Marx’s Capital. Its method can not be defined such a logic as dialectics. Its methodological eminence is related to Marx’s intention to produce a scientific political economy theory. In other words, that goal defines its method, not vice versa. Marx arranged methods which were not only dialectics, but also an abstract determination that was exploited to conceptualize the given subject’s core point by thinking or theoretical analysis, and a scientific and critical realism to find the economic law of motion of modern society. In sum, it is within bounds to say that Capital displays contemporary cutting edge academic methods as long as people regard political economy as a science.
