이 글은 『자본론』의 연구대상과 연구방법에 관한 일본 마르크스주의자들 사이의 논쟁을 소개하고 이 논쟁의 내용이 유럽의 마르크스주의자들에게는 어떻게평가되고 있는가를 고찰한다. 일본의 논쟁은 우노 코조가 마르크스 정치경제학을원리론‧단계론‧현상분석론이라는 세 개로 분할할 필요성을 제기함으로써 개시되었는데, 이 과정에서 『자본론』의 연구대상과 연구방법, 그리고 원리론과 단계론또는 『자본론』과 『제국주의』사이의 이론적 연관이 분명하게 정리되었다고 볼 수있다. 물론 이미 오래된 논쟁이지만 마르크스주의에 관한 관심이 다시 살아나고있는 지금 그 논쟁을 통해 『자본론』을 읽는 방법을 되새겨 보는 것은 의미가 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This essay intends to introduce the Japanese controversy on the method of Marx's Capital and to compare it with the contributions by European Marxists. The controversy began with Kozo Uno's work which emphasised the necessity of the Marxian political economy being divided into the three different levels of principles, stages theory and empirical studies. The controversy waged among the Unoists, Suzukiists and the Orthodox contributed a lot to clarify the study-object and -method of Capital, and the theoretical relationship between the principles and the stages theory or Capital and Imperialism. With the recent revival of Marxism in Korea it is worthwhile to review the old Japanese controversy.
