초록
The depot maintenance of army tracked vehicles such as tanks, self-propelled artillery, and armored vehicles is typically performed based on earlier cumulative operating hours or distance traveled. In 2020, condition-based depot maintenance, which allows the maintenance type of an incoming tracked vehicle engine to be selected based on its actual condition, was introduced to reduce depot maintenance costs and improve maintenance efficiency. Condition-based depot maintenance processes encompass preshop analysis (PSA) for tracked vehicle engines, based on which the maintenance type of overhaul or inspection and repair only as necessary (IROAN) is determined. However, the current qualitative PSA conducted at depots may result in unnecessary overhaul aintenance, thus incurring additional maintenance costs and causing inefficiency. This study proposes an economic condition-based depot maintenance policy. It can be obtained using a newly designed, quantifiable PSA check sheet and the optimal cut-off score that determines the type of engine maintenance between the overhaul and IROAN based on the PSA score of the engine to be maintained. To determine the cost-efficient cutoff score for the PSA result, an expected maintenance cost model is proposed and minimized. The proposed economic condition-based depot maintenance policy is applied to K1 tank engines, and the results demonstrate its practical adaptability to other tracked vehicle engines.
Abstract
The depot maintenance of army tracked vehicles such as tanks, self-propelled artillery, and armored vehicles is typically performed based on earlier cumulative operating hours or distance traveled.
