초록
The fire blight symptoms and emergence characteristics have been investigated from the seedling cultivation orchard in Jeollabuk-do since the disease first appeared in 2023. The symptoms were classified based on whether they appeared in both scion and rootstock or only in the scion or the rootstock. If there was a symptom only in the scion, no pathogen was detected in the rootstock, and if there was a disease only in the rootstock, no pathogen was detected in the scion. In addition, fire blight incidence was higher in specific sections of the orchard, where symptoms manifested in both scion and rootstock. In contrast, symptoms were observed only in the scions as they got farther from the sections. This pattern suggests that Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of fire blight, may have initially infected in a specific area due to some factors, then the pathogen likely spread to other seedlings via insects or other natural factors. Therefore, it is crucial that farmers adhere to fire blight prevention guidelines such as ensuring proper sanitation of workers during nursery cultivation, and enhance monitoring efforts to mitigate the spread of fire blight.
