이 논문은 장이빙의 <마르크스로 돌아가다: 경제학적 맥락에서 고찰한 철학 담론> 의 한국어판을 검토한다. 장이빙은 이 책의 목적이 “텍스트학의 기초 위에서 마르크스의 경제학 연구에 담겨 있는 잠재적인 철학적 담론의 전환을 묘사함으로써1990년대 중국 마르크스주의 연구가 응당 제기해야 하는 구호, 즉 마르크스로 돌아가다”를 실현하는 데 있다고 말한다. 장이빙에 따르면 마르크스의 철학 사상의 전개 과정을 이해하기 위해서는 마르크스의 경제학 연구의 발전 과정을 이해하는 것이 필수적이다. 예컨대 장이빙은 마르크스의 ‘철학 혁명’에서 고전파 경제학의 ‘사회적 유물론’이 결정적 역할을 했다고 주장한다. 장이빙은 또 ‘사물화’(물상화)의‘역사현상학’을 마르크스 철학의 핵심으로 제시한다. 하지만 장이빙이 절대 진리로서 마르크스주의 철학을 전제하고, 마르크스의 철학 사상의 전개 과정을 이를 향해계속 발전해 나아가는 진화론적 과정으로 묘사하는 것, 즉 마르크스와 마르크스주의를 동일시하는 것은 문제적이다. 장이빙의 주장과는 반대로, 마르크스는 <철학의빈곤>(1847) 이후 철학 자체를 비판하고 지양했다고 볼 수 있다. 하지만 장이빙의책은 스탈린주의 변증법적 유물론의 파산 이후에도 마르크스주의 철학이 마르크스자신의 텍스트의 재독해에 기초해 구성될 수 있음을 보였다는 점에서 획기적 의의를 갖는다. 이 책의 한국어판 출판은 소련 붕괴 후 황폐화된 한국의 마르크스주의철학에 재흥의 계기를 제공할 것이다.
Abstract
This article reviews the South Korean edition of Zhang Yibing’s Back to Marx (2018). Zhang notes that the book aims to realize the slogan, ‘Return to Marx’, which Chinese Marxists advocated in the 1990s. Zhang describes the transformations of the philosophical discourses latent in Marx’s economic research by applying the method of “textology”. Zhang argues that understanding the evolution of Marx’s philosophical thought, which is characterized by several leaps and breaks, presupposes the understanding of progress in Marx’s economic research. According to Zhang, the “social materialism” of Classical Economics played a crucial role in Marx’s “revolution of philosophy”. Zhang also argues that the most developed version of Marx’s philosophical thought can be found in his “historical phenomenology” of “Versachlichung”. However, when Zhang describes Marx’s philosophical thoughts culminating in “Marxist Philosophy” or “Scientific Socialism” as the “Absolute Truth”, it runs the risk of identifying Marx with Marxism. In fact, far from completing this philosophy, Marx criticized and superseded it around 1847 when he published Poverty of Philosophy. Nevertheless, Zhang’s book wonderfully demonstrates the vitality and relevance of Marx’s philosophy after the bankruptcy of Stalinist Dialectical Materialism. The publication of the Korean edition of Zhang’s book will be a crucial moment for the revival of Marx’s philosophy in South Korea, where it has been equated with Stalinism and become extinct since the latter’s demise in 1991.
