교정정책에 대한 수용자 만족도분석 및 정책제언

Abstract

Korean Correctional Service conducted survey on satisfaction level of inmates,correctional officers and visitors about the correctional policies in 2006 and theperiod between 2011 and 2013. And among the survey results, this study focuseson the satisfaction level of inmate and changes in trend to make useful proposalfor the correctional policy. Survey items include treatment, rehabilitation and edification, and education forinmates, which are composed of 10 subcategories. According to the survey results, demands for continued improvement inaccommodation atmosphere and medical treatment for inmates are high, whileinmates are greatly satisfied with edification and rehabilitation programs. Inparticular, the results show that video visiting system and family visiting roomwhich are newly operated recently are the most satisfactory and efficient system. In terms of edification and rehabilitation of inmates, demands for rationalized workincentives and vocational training program are the highest. Future correctional policy should focus on the program which may enhance theinmates’ capabilities to adapt the society as a social member. In addition, if theformality of the survey report is supplemented, it could be utilized as the scientificpolitical data. And if the themes of the survey are more systemized and logically categorizedand if its sub-categories are decided thereby to provide consistent data on theannual basis, it could make sustainable contributions in the policy-making process.
