초록
This study examines how mountain adventure tourism in Mt. Siguniang, Sichuan Province, influences residents’ social and economic development and strengthens their sense of self-efficacy and professional identity. A qualitative approach was applied through in-depth interviews with twenty-three local participants, including guides, innkeepers, and community leaders. Findings revealed three key processes: economic empowerment, social recognition, and community cooperation. These factors interacted to create a continuous cycle of confidence, motivation, and collaboration among residents. Tourism participation enabled individuals to transform their livelihoods, improve self-confidence, and establish a stronger sense of belonging within the community. The study highlights that sustainable tourism development should focus not only on economic benefits but also on human capacity building. It suggests establishing a competency training and certification system for tourism workers to ensure professional standards, enhance local identity, and promote long-term community resilience.
