초록

After inducing middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats using silicone-coated vascular embolization, mouse adipose stromal stem cells (ATSCs) were transplanted after MCAO. The behavioral tests were performed through motor and sensory functions and neurological evaluations of the rats. The functional efficacy of the transplanted ATSCs was gradually improved in the functions of sensory and motor neurons. This study suggests that stem cell transplantation can improve synaptic connections in the experimental rat brain and can have a positive effect on behavioral recovery and infarct size reduction in focal ischemic rats. Cell transplantation can induce specific functional recovery of brain tissue through endogenous cell-mediated effects. This study suggests that ATSCs injected intracerebrally survived, migrated from the injection site to the infarct site, and differentiated into glial cells in the ischemic brain region of the experimental rats. Therefore, ATSCs may be a useful tool for the treatment of neurological diseases. In conclusion, cell transplantation therapy presents a novel approach that can improve the efficacy and effectiveness of stem cell transplantation after ischemic stroke.
