· 연구 주제: 동반 업무 협력자로서의 인공지능을 통한 번역 유용성· 연구 배경: 한국문학 수출과정에서 인공지능 활용 번역의 유용성과 그 한계를 연구함으로써 비영어권 문학이, 특히 영미권을 비롯 해외 다양한 언어권에서 번역·출간됨으로써 80억 세계 독자와 소통하는 문학으로 거듭나는데 인공지능이 유력한 협력자가 될 수 있을지에 대한 점검· 선행연구와의 차이점: 기존 선행연구는 인공지능 번역기의 작업과 결과물에 나타난 통·번역 관점에서의 역할과 한계 분석이 중심이었다면 본 연구는 출판산업 측면에서의 한국문학 글로벌 진출에 인공지능 역할의 유용성과 한계 연구를 통해 인공지능이 현재와 미래에 어떤 활용적 가치가 있는지를 탐색함· 연구방법: 문학번역 동반자로서의 인공지능 역할과 한계 연구를 위해 챗GPT, 구글, 파파고 등의 번역기 작업 결과를 인간 번역자 결과물과 비교 분석하며 그 유용성과 차이, 그리고 인공지능 번역기의 한계 연구· 연구결과: 인공지능 번역기 통한 원천 텍스트에 대한 번역작업이 시간과 비용을 절감시키고 산업적 관점에서 원하는 시점에 결과물 확보에 유용성은 있으나 인간 번역가나 관련 전문가 통한 작업 결과물 확인과 보완작업이 필요하다는 한계 확인· 공헌점 및 기대효과: 한국문학을 비롯, 비영어권 문학의 영미권 진출을 위한 해당 작품에 대한 시놉시스, 샘플번역 등, 필요 영문자료 준비에 적잖은 시간과 비용 소요. 이에 인공지능 번역기를 통한 일차적 작업의 유용성과 한계를 본 연구를 통해 공유함으로써 문학계 및 출판업계 종사자들에게 현재 및 미래를 위한 대응과 비전 제시
Abstract
· Research topics: Usefulness of translation through AI(artificial intelligence) as a companion work partner · Research background: By studying the usefulness and limitations of translation using AI in the process of exporting Korean literature, non-English literature is reborn as literature that communicates with 8 billion readers around the world by translating and publishing in various foreign languages, especially English · Differences from prior research: This study shows its current and future usefulness through exploring the usefulness and limitations of the role of AI in the global advancement of Korean literature in aspect of the publishing industry while previous studies have focused on analysis of the role and limitations from the perspective of interpretation and translation shown in the works and results of AI translators. · Research method: To study the role and limitations of AI as a literary translation partner, I compared and analyzed the results of translators such as ChatGPT, Google, and Papago with those of human translators, and studied their usefulness and differences, as well as the limitations of AI. · Research results: Although translation work on source text through an AI translator is useful in saving time and cost and securing results at the desired timing from an industrial perspective, it has been confirmed that it is necessary to confirm and supplement the results of artificial intelligence work through human translators or related experts. · Contribution points and expected effects: It takes a considerable time and money to prepare necessary English materials such as synopsis and sample translation for Korean literature and non-English literature to enter into the English-speaking world. Accordingly, by sharing the usefulness and limitations of primary work through AI translators through this study, it presents answers and visions for the present and future to the publishing industries
