<토끼전>의 ‘토끼 유인 대목’에 대한 수사학적 분석-자라는 토끼를 어떻게 설득해서 용궁으로 데려갔나?-

본고는 ‘토끼 유인 대목’에 나타난 자라의 설득 방법과 전략을 메시지의 내용과 구성 면에서, 에토스와 파토스의 측면에서 살펴보았다. 메시지 내용 측면에서 자라는 정보의 양뿐 아니라 질적인 면에서도 정보의 우위를 차지 했다. 그 정보를 구성할 때는 토끼를 참여자로 포함시켜 산중 생활의 나쁜 점과 수궁 생활의 좋은 점을 대조하여 좋은 것을 취하도록 했다. 또한 토끼를 수궁으로 데려가고 싶다는 본심을 말하기 전까지 꽤 먼 길을 우회했다. 산중 생활의 재미는 어떠한지, 왜 이렇게 곤궁한지 등 에둘러 말하기를 통해 상대의 거부감과 의심을 거두어들였다. 방해자가 나타나 논리적으로 반박하자 상대의 인신을 공격했다. 토끼에게 누구를 더 신뢰할 것인지 선택하 도록 하는 자신감 있는 행동에서는 자라의 에토스가 활용되었다. 그리고 결정적인 순간에 토끼가 주저하자 저주와 위협 등 두려움이라는 감정을 적극 활용하기도 했다. 이러한 자라의 설득 담화는 화법교육에서 설득 당하는 과정을 비판적으로 성찰하도록 살피기 위한 자료로 쓰일 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper examined the methods and strategies in the part where the turtle attracts the rabbit, in terms of logos, ethos, and pathos. In terms of message content, the turtle has an information advantage not only in terms of quantity of information, but also in terms of quality. In organizing the information, the rabbit was included as a participant to contrast the bad points of mountain life with the good points of water palace life, and the good points of water palace life were taken. He also took a long detour before saying his real wish, that he wanted to take the rabbit to the palace. By saying it in a roundabout way, the opponent's rejection and doubt disappeared. When an interrupter appeared and made a logical counter-argument, the turtle attacked the opponent's personality. His ethos was used in the confident act of making the rabbit choose whom to trust more. And when the rabbit hesitated at the critical moment, he used his feelings of fear, such as curses and threats. This turtle's persuasion discourse has educational value as a resource for understanding why we are often misled.
