Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers' perception on skills for elementary school success. The target population for the study were 197 elementary school teachers, including 153 general education teachers and 44 special education teachers. The questionnaire developed by related literature and instruments. It contained 5 domains and 75 items. Results indicated that teachers recognize friendship/peer relationship making and classroom survival as the most important areas for elementary school success and dealing with feeling, alternatives to aggression, dealing with stress in order. General and special education teachers were relatively similar in their perception regarding the importance of the area and the skill essential for school success. Across the grade span, teachers shared similar views on the importance. There were some differences in teacher perception across different types of terachers(general versus special education teachers) and across the grade span. Conclusions and the direction for future standardization studies were addressed.
