Abstract
This article first analyzes the problem that the commercialization of pets as living toys or high-quality dolls combined with the uniqueness of Korean society has created. In particular, the situation of dogs that were raised outside and then treated as livestock to be eaten, and then rapidly rose to become pets and companion dogs, is a representative example of the uniqueness of Korean society that went through a rapid industrialization process. Second, the natural time of livestock, lifespan, and the slaughter time applied in human society are as much as 13 to 20 times different. What does this significant difference mean? Why does the way time is applied in human society try to shorten natural time? What would be the result of controlling the natural time of livestock? This article proposes two topics: what problems are occurring due to the cracks in time that have appeared in the commercialization of pet dogs and the industrialization of livestock in Korean society, and what needs to be discussed and improved to solve them. This leads to a method of explaining the production structure of modern society and the process of capitalist commercialization using general social science theories through the case of Korean society.
