초록
The increasing importance of identifying the functions of challenging behavior, along with the ongoing trend toward inclusive education (National Center for Education Statistics, 2005) and current legislation mandating functional behavior assessment in the U.S. (1997 IDEA) has accelerated research efforts to examine the effectiveness of interventions based on FBA in general education classrooms. The purpose of this article is to review the literature to determine to what extent FBAs and FBA-based interventions could be used in general education classrooms. This paper reviews 11 studies which used FBA to develop interventions for any student aged 5 to 21 who engaged in problem behaviors in general education classrooms between 1997 and 2007. Findings indicated that interventions derived from FBA led to decreases in problem behavior in general education classrooms. Remarks on FBA in general education classrooms, behavior interventions and the practicality of the reviewed studies are discussed. Additionally, relevant issues for future research are also discussed.

Findings indicated that interventions derived from FBA led to decreases in problem behavior in general education classrooms. Remarks on FBA in general education classrooms, behavior interventions and the practicality of the reviewed studies are discussed. Additionally, relevant issues for future research are also discussed.
