Abstract
This study explores the potential of AI video technology to visualize the narrative of 'The Betrayal of Judas Iscariot' from John 13:21-27 and investigates new possibilities for Christian art education. AI video generation has advanced through platforms such as Runway Gen-3 and Sora, enabling short cin ematic clips from text prompts. However, limitations persist in generation length, quality consistency, and fine control. This research employs a qualitative methodology combining case study and prac tice-based research, analyzing four stages: planning, production, direction, and audience response. The experimental results with 30 participants (theology students and young adult worship attend ees) showed that worship immersion with AI video (M=4.3) was significantly higher than traditional methods (M=3.6) (t=4.28, p<.001, Cohen's d=0.78), and 73% of participants evaluated AI video as 'a new form of emotional engagement.' However, this study was conducted with a small sample limited to urban young adults aged 20-30 from Seoul metropolitan area, thus caution must be exercised when generalizing these results to other age groups or regions. The findings suggest that AI video generation technology has the potential to expand the sensory delivery of biblical messages, facilitate learners' active interpretation of faith, and enable a participatory transformation in art education. The study provides practical guidelines for church contexts, including worship type-specific strat egies, educational program design models, and ethical verification systems. This research proposes that AI video generation technology can serve as a 'companion technology' that expands the sensory expression of faith and promotes creative participation in communities, rather than replacing wor ship and art education, provided it is accompanied by theological reflection, pedagogical design, and communal verification. Future research should explore various biblical texts, learner-led production models, longitudinal effects, and importantly, diverse demographic groups including middle-aged, eld erly, and rural populations to verify the generalizability of these findings.
