최근 5년간 유아교육관련 학회지에 게재된질적연구 논문의 동향 분석
An analysis of qualitative research trends published in nine major korean early childhood education journals from 2007 to 2012

본 연구는 양적으로 팽창되고 있는 유아교육분야 질적연구물들의 전반적인 연구 경향을 체계적으로 검토하는 데 목적이 있으며, 향후 질적연구의 개선을 위한 기초자료를 제시한다는 데에 의의가 있다. 이를 위해 2007년부터 2012년 6월까지 유아교육관련 9개의 학회지(『교육과학연구』, 『미래유아교육학회지』, 『아동교육』, 『아동학회지』, 『열린유아교육연구』, 『유아교육연구』, 『유아교육학논집』, 『한국교원교육연구』, 『한국영유아보육학』, 이상 가나다순)에 게재된 총 514편의 질적연구 논문을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 질적연구 논문은 2007년에 78편에서 시작하여 2010년까지 해마다 꾸준히 증가하였지만 2011년 이후 소폭 감소하였다가 2012년 다시 증가하였고, 연구주제는 ‘교사’, ‘교수학습방법’, ‘교육과정 및 프로그램’의 세 분야에 치중되는 경향이 있었으며, 세부 연구방법상으로는 일반적인 질적연구 방법이 353편(68.7%)으로 가장 많았다. 연구방법에 따른 연구주제를 세부적으로 살펴본 결과에서는 ‘교사’ 주제를 연구할 때 가장 다양한 질적연구 방법을 활용하고 있었으며, 연구참여자는 현직교사가 303편(40.2%), 유아가 293편(38.9%)으로 대부분의 질적연구의 초점이 교사 및 유아에게 맞추어져 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아교육분야의 질적연구가 주제, 방법, 참여자에 있어서 보다 다양화될 필요가 있으며, 이를 위해서는 전 연구과정 및 출판에 있어 질적연구와 질적연구자를 지지하는 환경여건이 조성될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
This study aims to discern the overall characteristics of qualitative research trends in the field of early childhood education. For this purpose, 514 qualitative research articles were selected and analyzed among the 3,632 articles published in the last 5 years (2007 to June 2012) in nine major early childhood education journals accredited by the National Research Foundation of Korea : Korean Journal of Early Childhood Education, Korean Journal of Child Studies, Journal of Korea Open Association for Early Childhood Education, Journal of Future Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education Research & Review, Korea Association of Child Care and Education, Journal of Educational Studies, Korean Journal of Child Education, and Journal of Korean Teacher Education. A summary of the study notes 1) the number of qualitative research articles per year: 78 articles were published in 2007, 86 in 2008, 99 in 2009, 107 in 2010, 104 in 2011, and 40 in the first half of 2012; 2) the research topics focused on ‘teachers’, ‘teaching learning methods’, and ‘curricula and programs’; 3) in terms of qualitative traditions of inquiry, the most frequently employed category (68.7%) was ‘general qualitative research’; 4) research participants mostly comprised teachers (40.2%)’ and ‘young children (38.9%). These figures suggest that the research topics, methods, and participants of qualitative studies in the field of early childhood education need to be more diversified. To achieve this, the current supportive circumstances for qualitative research and qualitative researchers should be reinforced.
