본 연구는 KMDD 도덕적 딜레마 토론을 활용하여 군 장병의 민주시민의식을 함양하기 위한 효과적인 정신전력교육 방안을 모색하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 군대와 시민사회의 관계를 연구하는 민군관계 이론은 분리형, 통합형, 절충형이 있는데, 본 연구는 군의 특수성과 시민사회의 보편적 가치를 절충하는 절충형의 관점에서 접근하였다. 먼저, 군복 입은 시민을 위한 도덕적 역량의 함의와 도덕적 딜레마의 특징이 무엇인지 탐색하고, 민주시민으로서 군인에게 요구되는 도덕성의 두 측면인 도덕적 지향과 도덕적 역량에 대해 살펴보았다. 이를 바탕으로 린트(G. Lind) 교수가 개발한 콘스탄츠 딜레마 토론(KMDD) 9개 단계를 적용하여 군의 정신전력교육 시 민주시민으로서의 장병들의 도덕적 역량을 기를 수 있는 교수-학습모델을 구체적으로 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to discover find out an effective mental strength education method to cultivate democratic citizenship in military personnel by using moral dilemma discussions. Civil-military relations theories that study the relationship between the military and civil society include “Separate, Integrated, and Compromise Types”. This study was approached from a ‘compromise perspective’ that compromises the special nature of the military and the universal values of civil society. To this end, we explored the implications of moral competence for citizens in military uniform and the characteristics of moral dilemmas, and looked at the two aspects of morality required of soldiers as democratic citizens: Moral orientation and Moral competence. Based on this, by applying the nine stages of the Konstanz Method of Dilemma Discussion (KMDD) developed by G. Lind, a teaching-learning model that can develop moral competences as democratic citizens during Military Mental Strength Education was presented in detail.
