우리사회의 성 관련문제 현황과 일반·특수학교교사의 인식 및 교육수행 정도

초록

사회가 급속히 변화하고 발전해가면서 다른 사회문제와 함께 성과 관련된 문제 또한 더욱 부각되고 있으며, 장애학생들은 아무런 보호장치도 없이 방치되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 이들을 위한 교육의 필요성이 강조되고 있다. 특히, 분리된 환경인 특수학교의 장애학생에게 사회에서 일어나는 성과 관련된 문제들에 대한 교육은 필수적인 것이다. 본 연구는 우리 사회의 성 관련 문제의 현황과 장애인이 겪는 어려움을 살펴보았으며, 설문조사를 통해 일반학교교사(127명)와 특수학교교사(64명)들의 성과 관련된 문제들에 대한 중요성의 인식 및 교육실시 정도를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 두 교사집단 모두 대부분의 항목에서 보통수준 이상으로 중요하다고 인식하였다. 남녀성차별과 대중매체의 선정성에 대해서는 특수학교교사가 일반학교교사보다 통계적으로 유의미한 수준으로 더 자주 교육을 실시하고 있으며, 대부분의 항목에서 일반학교교사들에 비해 더 자주 교육을 실시하는 것으로 나타났다. 그럼에도, 양쪽 교사집단 모두 교육실시정도는 꽤 미흡함을 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

During the past decade, Our society has been rapidly westernized and children and youth have been confronted with many risks related to sex. Those risks include sexual abuse, rape, teenage pregnancy, abortion, AIDS/HIV. Children and youth are not prepared to the problems associated with a broad range of other controversial issues our society argue with, such as sexual promiscuity, gender discrimination, sex in media. Despite of having those problems, general sex education for children and youth has hardly provided in our school. This study addressed current conditions of sex-related problems for children and youth in our society and investigated levels of recognition on importance and education of sex-related problems between teachers in regular schools and special schools. Subjects were 191 teachers(127 regular teachers and 64 special teachers). The results of this study were as follows: 1. There were significantly differences between teachers in regular schools and special schools in their recognition of importance of sex-related problems: (a)gender discrimination, (b)sex in media, (c)sexual promiscuity, (d) AIDS/HIV. Both groups showed higher recognition on all items even though significant differences were not found. 2. There were statistically significant differences between teachers in regular schools and special schools in teaching the sex-related problems: (a) gender discrimination, and (b) sex in media. But, both groups less often provided education of all sex-related items.
