Abstract
This study aims to examine how the experience of shared platform business is intertwined with everyday life, noting that the personal mobility market is growing through platform business. The study investigates various changes and practices of individuals who experience shared personal mobility with the concept of affect. Affect is the body’s sensations, behaviors, and cognitive responses as well as its capacity to react and change. It is useful to analyze how shared personal mobility users experience changes and transitions after the encounter with e-scooter. The result shows that the ways of affecting individual’s body with shared personal mobility cannot be generalized. Rather, it is modulated in various ways according to embodied individuals and environment. In doing so, this paper reveals that users are changing their orientation toward existing personal mobility through repeated use of shared personal mobility. Through a micropolitical view of the body as a constantly changing capacity, this paper revisits the process of changing ability over time. It contributes on enhancing the understanding of power relations between technology, device, and body, and multiple subjectivities that emerge through ongoing immersion in shared personal mobility.
