Abstract

As interest on traditional culture is increasing after the 1990s, promotion policies in various traditional culture ares are appearing by each government department. Among various policies regarding establishment of promotion policies in the Chungcheong Confucianism cultural area especially Hoseo scholar culture, process of change and policy strategy of traditional culture promotion policies and tourism development policies of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism were analyzed to find direction. First, traditional culture promotion policies has passed Han Brand business and Han style business after the 2000s in which subjects of policy and direction of promotion are changing. ‘Koreanology’ as an independent area in the Han brand business has become a subject of Confucianism culture promotion, but was excluded afterwards showing characteristic of mainly concentrating in food, clothing, and shelter culture which is a subordinate factor of the Confucianism culture. Next, tourism development plans that have been established by 10 year units since the 1990s reaching the third plan was analyzed. Representative tourism area ‘Gyeongbuk Northern Confucianism area’ was analyzed to comparatively research Confucianism cultural area development plans of the Chungcheong Confucianism cultural area. Based on the implications of this process, results of basic Chungcheong Confucianism cultural area which was established in 2014 were compared and evaluated. The concept of Chungcheong Confucianism cultural area as a political subject having relation with the regulation called traditional Giho studying and Hoseo studying and direction of characterization was reviewed. In aspect of political subjects, the importance of governance of various subjects within metropolitan administrative cultural areas was reviewed. Directivity of Chungcheong Confucianism Culture Center which is a core facility was reviewed in policy based aspect and lastly strategic direction to secure various contents of Confucianism cultural promotion was reviewed in political content aspect. Contents activation direction of the Chungcheong Confucianism cultural area which started later than other cultural area promotion policies such as the Gyeongbuk Northern Confucianism area must take place through close analysis on previous businesses and long-term preparation.
