칼빈주의 관점에서의 스티븐슨(Leslie F. Stevenson)의 신학논점 논박: 『인간의 본질에 관한 일곱 가지 이론』을 중심으로

이 연구는 스티븐슨(Leslie F. Stevenson)의 대표적 저작인 『인 간의 본질에 관한 일곱 가지 이론』(Seven Theories of Human Nature, 1974)을 중심으로 칼빈주의 관점에서 그의 신학논점들을 논박하려는 데 목적을 두었다. 이 저서는 처음 출판된 이래 30년 기간에 걸쳐 동서양의 사상을 아우르는 역작으로 평가를 받았다. 본 연구자는 칼빈주의 관점에서 스티븐슨의 『인간의 본질에 관 한 일곱 가지 이론』에 나타난 중요한 신학적 논지들을 다음과 같 이 숙고했다. 첫째, 스티븐슨의 ‘신관’ 논증과 관련하여 하나님의 실존과 하나님의 존재증명, 성삼위일체 하나님의 수학적(數學的) 개념 등 핵심적인 사안들에 대하여 논했다. 둘째, 그의 ‘그리스도 관’ 논증과 관련하여 예수 그리스도의 성육신, 신성과 인성 양성 (兩性) 사이의 조화, 마지막 아담으로서의 대표의 원리, 예수 그리 스도의 동정녀 탄생 등 매우 민감한 논증들에 초점을 맞추어 살 폈다. 셋째, 그의 ‘인간관’ 논증과 관련하여 인간의 죄(원죄와 자 범죄), 이 세상의 고질적인 부패와 타락상, 기독교신앙의 역동적 인 동인, 인간의 자유의지, 죽은 자들의 육체적 부활 등에 주안점 을 두어 고찰했다. 넷째, 그의 ‘역사관’ 논증과 관련하여 하나님 의 창조사역, 하나님과 아담 사이에 체결된 행위언약, 주관적 관 점으로서의 히스토리에와 객관적 관점으로서의 게쉬히테의 의 미, 기독교의 이원론적 속성, 그리스철학의 영향 등에 대하여 논 증했다.
Abstract
This paper aims to refute Leslie F. Stevenson’s theological concerns from the perspective of Calvinism, focusing on his rep- resentative masterpiece Seven Theories of Human Nature(1974). This book was in the spotlight for 30 years after its first pub- lication as a masterpiece that encompasses Eastern and Western ideas. The author considers the important theological points revealed in Stevenson’s Seven Theories of Human Nature from the per- spective of Calvinism as follows: Firstly, The author tries to dis- cuss Stevenson’s salient arguments in relation to his ‘view of God’ such as the existence of God and argument for His ex- istence, the mathematical concepts of holy trinity God, and so on. Secondly, the article concentrates on Stevenson’s very sensi tive arguments in relation to his ‘view of Christ’ such as the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the harmony between divine nature and human nature, representative principle as the last Adam, the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, and so on. Thirdly, the article centers Stevenson’s arguments in relation to his ‘view of human’ such as human sins(original sin and actual sin), the chronic corruption and depravity of this world, the dynamic motive of Christian faith, human free will, somatic resurrection of the dead, and so forth. Fourthly, the author demonstrates Stevenson’s arguments in relation to his ‘view of history’ such as God’s creation and God’s creation, the covenant of works between God and Adam, the meaning of historie as an objective perspective and ge- schichte as an subjective perspective, dualistic nature of Christianity, the influence of Greek philosophy, and so forth.
