쉬즈모의 사랑과 시 — 케임브리지⋅베이징⋅상하이를 중심으로

Abstract

Xu Zhimo is a romanticist who jumped in love twice with the determination to lose everything, and his love stories and poems are well known to the Chinese. In particular, after the airing of the 20-part drama April Rhapsody, which deals with his love stories, he became very popular in Taiwan and China. And then he emerged as one of the representative writers of the republic of China period to the 21st century Chines people. At the same time, various studies on his literature were actively conducted in academia as well as five times more than before the drama was aired. Several of these articles deal with the relationship between Xu Zhimo with Cambridge. It was true that his life went through a major transformation in Cambridge, but he actually spent less than two years in England. Rather, he spent longer in Beijing and Shanghai. Since space is a vessel that holds time and serves as the most basic basis for forming the identity of life, it will be a meaningful work to connect the three cities of Cambridge, Beijing, and Shanghai to understand his poems. This paper is largely composed of the following four chapters: ‘A relationship with Cambridge’, ‘Beijing as a heterotopia’, ‘Conflict in Shanghai, the city of desire’, ‘Again Beijing and death like fate’. Each chapter traces the vestiges of his life in the three cities of Cambridge, Beijing, and Shanghai, by focusing on Xu Zhimo’s love poems on Lin Huiyin and Lu Xiaoman, who were his muses. In this process, we will better understand the background in which his love poems were created.
