무역개방을 통한 기술이전과 경제성장간의 관계 분석

본 연구는 1980∼2005년간 80개국의 자료를 사용하여 시장개방과 경제성장률간의 장기적인 관계를 기술이전효과를 관련하여 살펴보고 또한 이를 동아시아국가의 급격한 경제성장과 연관하여 분석하였다. 먼저 각국의 무역개방도는 지난 1990년대 이후 지속적으로 상승하였고, 특히 1990내 후반 이후 최근까지 급격하게 상승한 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 경제성장률 결정 모형을 설정하여 대외시장 개방이 경제성장률에 미치는 실증분석을 실시한 결과, 첫째, 각국의 시장 개방은 정태적으로 규모의 경제 등을 통하여 경제성장률에 긍정적인 효과를 준 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 내생적 성장이론이 제시하는 기술이전 효과를 조사한 결과, 이는 전 세계적으로 공통적으로 나타났으며, 이는 특히 개도국에서 매우 뚜렷하게 나타나는 것으로 제시되었다. 셋째, 이러한 효과는 동아시아 국가에서 매우 뚜렷하게 나타나, 이것이 동아시아 국가들이 이 기간 중 높은 성장률을 보인 원인 중의 하나로 해석된다.
Abstract
This study examine long-run relation of openness and economic growth especially through the technology transfer effect applying 80 countries panel data during 1980~2005. At first, openness of each country increased continually after 1990 to present and especially that of East Asian countries has very rapidly increased. Later we find that economic openness makes positive effect to economic growth through economies of scale effect by estimating economic growth model. At the same time, it is shown that the effect of technology transfer emphasized in endogenous growth theory was very effective in the developing countries. Finally, we find that East Asia countries has taken advantage of this effect of technology transfer, which turn out to be one of the important reason why they achieves high economic growth during 1980~2005.
