Po was worn for the purpose of protection against the cold since ancient times. Then, men of Joseon dynasty wore Po so as to be in full dress indoors and outdoors for keeping etiquette, and they wore Po which are different in accordance with social position class or use. This researcher tried to study the shape alternation of gusset by choosing clothes used as the ordinary dress of nobleman such as Danryoung(團領), Jikryoung(直領), Changeui(氅衣), Dopo(道袍), Dabho(褡穫), and Jooeui(周衣) etc. among of the male Po of Jeseon dynasty. This study aims at examining how the male Po of Jeseon dynasty changed through the analysis of formative characteristics and type which show by periods, by laying emphasis on the structure and shape alternation of gusset out of the composition elements of male Po of Jeseon dynasty. This study has meaning in that this researcher may understand and grasp the feature and shape of male Po of Jeseon dynasty which show in excavated dress and its ornaments and relic more exactly through this. As the result of examining the shape alternaion of gusset of male Po of Jeseon dynasty, gusset started to be used for the convenience of activity, and diverse shapes of gusset show by periods. It can be seen that the form of this gusset changed under the influence of social change of Jeseon dynasty.
