‘와쇼쿠(和食)’ 문화 계승을 위한 보호 조치와 대책

Abstract

This research paper contains the process of Washoku acknowledged by UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Moreover, this paper includes a profound understanding of the culture of Washoku and the feature of preparing measures to protect the tradition of Washoku. The significant background of the process of Washoku to be recognized by the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage was to restore trust caused by the nuclear disaster. Since the nuclear disaster lost people’s faith, by reviving traditional Japanese meals, they were able to recover people’s respect, which to some extent, successful. After the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage acknowledged Washoku, Japan’s government had responsibility and obligation to inherit the culture. Hence, the private organization called “Washoku Japan” was established, and they cooperated with the government of Japan to seek the way to protect the culture of Washoku. Furthermore, the fundamental act on culture was revised to include not only the food culture, but also pervades to the daily lives of people. Additionally, emphasizing dietary culture in education made possible to implement full-fledged protection measures. Nevertheless, we have to ensure the essence of the Washoku culture and cultural spirit as we protect the culture of Washoku.
