교원양성 교육과정의 발전 방향과 과제

초록

이 논문은 최근 교원 자격 무시험검정 기준 강화, 교육과정 최소 기준 설정 등 교원양성 교육과정과 관련하여 새로운 변화가 모색되고 있는 가운데 교원양성교육의 문제를 새로운 관점에서 재검토함으로써 교원양성 교육과정과 관련된 주요 쟁점과 가능한 발전 방향을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 교원양성 교육과정을 구성하는 각 영역(교양교육, 전공교육, 교직교육)의 성격과 관련 쟁점을 분석하고, Cochran-Smith와 Fries의 교원양성 교육과정 분석 틀을 활용하여 교원양성 교육과정의 문제점들을 훈련의 문제, 학습의 문제, 정책의 문제로 구분하여 재분석하였다. 이러한 분석을 기초로 미래 교원의 핵심능력 중심의 교육과정 개발, 사회 변화에 따른 현장 적합성과 연계성을 강화한 교육과정 구성, 교원양성 교육과정 간 연계와 통합성 강화, 교원양성 교육과정의 전 영역에서 이론과 실제의 조화, 교사교육자에 대한 지원 강화 등을 발전 방향과 과제로 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the issues and possible directions for teacher education programs. Research and reform agendas on teacher education programs were not only new topics but proposed by many researchers and government initiatives. But these agendas were not based on thorough analysis and review of the teacher education curriculum themselves, namely attributes of a knowledge base for teaching and teacher education, the characteristics, issues and related problems of teacher education curriculum. In this paper, the curriculum of teacher education programs are composed of general education(liberal arts and sciences), subject-matter, professional studies(pedagogical content knowledge, method course), foundations of educations, practicum(student teaching). The characteristics of current problems of teacher education are reviewed using the Cochran-Smith & Fries(2005)'s three "the problem" of teacher education: training problem, learning problem, policy problem. In this context, the problem means as social science researchers do to define the problem to be addressed by a particular study, including issues, questions, and conditions. For possible future directions of teacher education programs are as follows: Restructuring curriculum of teacher education based on the key competencies for teachers and relationships between preservice and inservice programs, developing new teacher education programs for tomorrow schools and societies(eg. programs for diverse student population), reinforcing the university-school relations in teacher education, integrating in every teacher education programs the growth of understanding and practical competences for future teachers, supporting and helping teacher educators to adapt to new roles as scholars, researcher and teacher educators.
