강의실 밖 의사소통교육－서울대학교 사회봉사 교과목 독서멘토링 운영 사례－

Abstract

<Mentoring with book reading> is one-unit course in the SNU communityservice program. Students visit Gangwondo-province (approximately 4-hourdistance from Seoul) 2-4 times in a semester to spend total 12 hourswith mentees(local high school students), reading books together, discussingand counselling, This paper aims to show how the course is organizedas concretely as possible and to discuss that college students’ mentoringexperience is one of the communication education. Course descriptionincludes which books are chosen, how students themselves plan and performmentoring, which role the professor takes, etc. Mentoring, traditionallyunderstood as the one-directional help from mento to mentee(s), is foundas the active interaction between mento and mentee, and moreoveropportunity of learning and growth for both of them. In particular, thefact that during the course students need to communicate effectivelywith mentees, parter mento student as well as other colleague mentostudents shows its potential not only of social service program but also of communication education.
