Abstract
This study aimed to develope an ESD program based on the linked to People component of SDGs to cultivate future citizens who practice sustainable life for 6th graders of elementary school. To achieve the research purpose, the social studies, science, moral and practical arts achievement standards of the 2022 revised curriculum in the 6th grade of elementary school were analyzed to confirm how ESD based on People components was reflected in the curriculum and to derive implications. Based on this, the subject and learning goals of the program were selected, and an ESD program of 10 subjects based on the People component of the SDGs was developed and suggested utilization plan. The conclusions obtained form this study are as follows. First, the social studies, science, moral and practical arts and People component of SDGs in the 6th grade of elementary school were highly related to ESD content elements such as human rights, peace, and social justice, health and food, governance and civic participation, gender equality, literacy, natural resources, sustainable food production, globalization and international responsibility, the gap between the rich and poor and the elimination of hunger. Second, ten program subjects were selected based on the results of analysis on the relevance of the ESD content elements of the People components of the SDGs and the 2022 revised curriculum achievement standards. Third, the program was developed by applying the five-step class activity model of 'understand the situation-understand the concept-prepare to solve the problem-solve the problem-attitude change', and a plan for using the program was suggested through the step-by-step activity sheet that can be applied to the actual educational field. The ESD program linked to the People component of SDGs proposed in this study is expected to serve as teaching material in schools to foster learners' interest in sustainable life, acquisition of theoretical knowledge, improvement of practical skills, and changes in lifestyle attitudes.
