Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relative impact of the following independent variables: school condition, culture, supervision planning, and utilization of results. Our findings reveal the followings: First, elementary school teachers demonstrated a significantly more positive perception of school-based supervision compared to their middle and high school teachers. Second, this study confirmed that school conditions, including the leadership of school administrators, the physical learning environment, and the availability of supervision-related materials influence the process and effectiveness of supervision. Third, school culture significantly influenced teachers' perceptions of the process and effectiveness of school-based supervision. Fourth, the planning and result utilization of supervision significantly influenced the overall positive perception of school-based supervision. This indicates that the systematic nature of supervision planning and the effectiveness of result utilization directly and indirectly impact teachers' participation and perception of its effectiveness. In conclusion, schools should move beyond merely formal planning of school-based supervision initiatives and concretely define how supervision results will be utilized at both the teacher and school levels. The Office of Education should provide school-level-specific guidelines for -school-based supervision procedures, manage the quality of school-based supervision, and work to establish a system that addresses the disparities in supervision capacity among schools.
